Hours:
Day Shift
Mon-Thurs 7:30am-5:00pm
Fri 7:30am-11:30am
Night Shift
Mon-Thurs 6:00pm-3:30am
Fri 2:00pm-6:00pm
Status:
40 hour week
OT required at times
Essential Functions:
- Learns material types; selects and cuts proper material to size
- Learns different tooling and what they are used for
- Operates controls on a basic level: single block, tool offsets, etc.
- Understands X, Y, and Z axis clearance and tool offsets
- Positions and secures work piece in vise or on jig according to machining sequence
- Loads program into machine and puts proper tooling in place according to tool numbers on the cam file sheet
- Deburr work in process
- Cleans part after it is made to remove markings
- Replaces broken tooling in the machine
- Confers with cam writers to resolve machine malfunctions and production errors and obtains approval to continue production
- Notifies cam writers of material stock status
- Performs maintenance checks on machines daily and reports any concerns to cam writers
- Works with other CNC operators to keep all machines in production (night crew only)
- Follows all policies and procedures as directed in the employee handbook
- Meets agreed upon objectives and deadlines
- Attends monthly machining department meeting
- Arrives to work, meetings (mandatory and optional) on time
- Performs effective verbal and written communication
- Exhibits a positive attitude toward customers, other employees, and the company
Supplementary Functions:
- Cleans work area daily including emptying chip barrels, washing and cleaning out machines, mopping floor areas, cleaning benches and papers
- Shows a strong eagerness to learn and a positive attitude everyday
- Participates in company meetings
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be able to know how to use and read a tape measure
- Basic mathematical knowledge
- Must be able to understand both verbal and written instructions and work from handmade sketches
- Exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills
- Exhibit following instructions with precision
- Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, sharp tools, jagged material, aluminum and plastic shavings, and machinery that has moving parts
- Lift up to forty pounds
- Standing for long periods of time
